We discussed our safety procedures, the history of the wreck, and what we would see. Being in a small group instantly made me feel safe.

Descending was unforgettable. At first, it was just a dark shape in the distance, then suddenly the structure came into view. It is enormous. It's now a thriving new home, draped in corals and swarming with fish. I spotted big groupers hiding from the cargo hold, and schools of fusiliers hiding in the cracks. The feeling of swimming alongside this giant, silent vessel was hard to describe—eerie, beautiful, and humbling all at once. It's a piece of history under the water.

For any a certified diver visiting Con Dao and looking for something more the usual reef dive, I urge you this **dive** enough.
